Across recent façade deliveries, the typical bill of materials is:
- Outline / outline+grazing: Silicone Neon Flex IP68, top or side bend, 2700K / 3000K / RGB.
- Media façade pixels: Addressable WS2815 / SK6812, 30–60 px/m, in IP67 PVC housing.
- Driver: Marine-grade IP67 Meanwell ELG / HLG, wall or pole-mounted enclosure.
- Control: Art-Net / sACN from Madrix or Pharos for media façades; DMX512 for static colour scenes.
Zone Selector: What to Specify Where
Façade applications fail outdoors more often than any other category — wrong IP, wrong UV stability, wrong driver enclosure. Spec correctly:
Building outline / silhouette
Crisp single-colour outline, even bend.

Façade-Grade Specification Floor
Outdoor minimum specifications. Compromising on any of these is where 90% of façade failures come from:
← Swipe left to see full table →
| Parameter | Façade spec | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| IP rating | IP67 (vertical) / IP68 (submerged or splash) | Withstands driving rain, snow, pressure wash |
| UV stability | UV-stabilised PU / silicone jacket | No yellowing or cracking after 5 years sun |
| Operating temp | −25°C to +60°C | Service from Riyadh to Toronto |
| Driver enclosure | IP67 sealed box, vented | Condensation kills more drivers than rain |
| Cable connectors | IP68 silicone gel-filled | The connector fails before the strip ever does |
| Voltage | 24V / 48V (low voltage) | SELV safety for occupied façades |
| Marine-grade option | Copper-resistant coating | Required within 5km of saltwater |
| Warranty | 3 yr full system | Strip + driver + connector |

5 Questions Façade Buyers Actually Asked Us This Year
"The last neon flex on our project yellowed in 18 months. What changed?"
Cheap PVC jacket without UV stabilisers. Our outdoor neon flex uses UV-stabilised PU on the front lens and silicone where flexibility is needed. We can share the QUV accelerated weather test data from our supplier on request.
"Site is 500m from the coast. Do we need anything special?"
Marine-grade option: copper-resistant coating on connectors and PCB conformal coating. Salt fog test (ASTM B117) 720 hours pass. Required within 5km of saltwater.
"For a media façade, what pixel density do we need at 60m viewing distance?"
Roughly 1 pixel per 10cm at the viewer's distance is the readability threshold. At 60m that's 30 px/m strip horizontal × 30 px/m vertical pitch. Send us the render — we'll back-calculate to your viewing geometry.
"Our installer is worried about voltage drop on a 40m crown run."
48V neon flex covers 25m on a single feed. For 40m we add a mid-run injection point or split the run into two 20m feeds. Drawing marks both options.
"What's the longest project warranty you'll write?"
3 years standard, system-level. For tier-1 architectural projects we extend to 5 years on the strip alone with a project-specific warranty letter, on review.
