Perimeter cove, both sides
The most common approach in premium hotels. Continuous 24V strip in an aluminium profile at ceiling height on both walls, behind an opal diffuser, at a warm colour temperature. It reads as a floating ceiling and conceals the LEDs completely. The cost is two runs of everything, so it needs the budget to match the effect.
Single-side wash
One run grazing the opposite wall or the ceiling. Cost-effective and more dramatic, but less forgiving: with no second row to fill in, the strip’s own uniformity and the mounting distance do all the work. This is the layout where a cheap strip shows.
Slot ceiling, continuous linear
A recessed slot running the length of the corridor, filled with strip and diffuser. The cleanest result available and the least tolerant of construction error — if the plaster slot wanders by a few millimetres, the light line looks wavy and no lighting adjustment will fix it. Specify the slot tolerance, not just the strip.
Cove plus accent downlights
A layered scheme: continuous cove for the ambient layer, low-glare downlights at doorways for orientation and door-number legibility. This balances atmosphere against the practical need to find your room, and it is the layout most guests find easiest to use.
Low-level linear

Strip Selection: SMD, COB, or Both
A corridor cove is one of the few zones where either family can be correct. The deciding question is whether the guest can see the source, not which product is better.
Where the strip is fully concealed in a cove or slot and the guest only sees the wash on the ceiling, a high-density SMD 2835 strip is efficient and sufficient.
