Product Overview
The Senfey SMD 5050 RGBW LED Strip 60LEDs/m 12mm (ES-5050-60-RGBW) is a four-in-one colour-plus-white strip. Each 5050 package carries red, green and blue chips alongside a dedicated phosphor-converted white diode, driven through five wires. That white channel is a real warm white with its own colour point, not the grey-green pastel that mixing red, green and blue produces. It is why RGBW gets specified on hospitality work — one architectural line gives usable working white on a weekday and saturated colour for an event, with no second fixture.
Best For — Which Projects This Fits
Hotel coves and perimeter ceilings. Warm white covers check-in and daytime hours; the RGB channels take over for banquets and seasonal events on the same run, so the ceiling detail never changes. See our hotel cove lighting project.
Restaurant and bar zones. Warm white for dinner service, deep blue or amber late-night, from one controller. Because the W channel is a separate diode, dimming white does not shift its colour the way a mixed-white pastel does. See our RGB restaurant lighting project.
Retail fixtures that must show merchandise honestly. The white channel renders product colour properly for trading hours, while brand-colour washes handle windows and endcaps — mixed RGB white cannot do the first job.
Four-channel control systems. Wires onto 4-channel PWM RGBW controllers, DMX512 RGBW decoders and DALI DT8 drivers. The 12 mm PCB seats in a 14 mm CNC groove with about 1 mm of bead room each side; 24V suits longer runs, since the W channel raises load per metre over plain RGB.
Not For — When to Ask Us for a Different SKU
Not for direct view. On bare coves, close-view joinery or glass-shelf edges the emitters read as spots, and because the RGB and W diodes alternate along the strip, a grazed surface can show faint colour-versus-white patching between them. Specify a dotless RGBW COB build there — our RGB COB LED strip cluster covers the options. If the brief calls for full tunable white as well as colour, that is a five-in-one RGBCW job. Pixel chases and video mapping need an addressable build. IP20 rules out facade, exterior signage and wet-area coves; there is no sealed RGBW in this family, so ask us and we will scope one.
Customization & Inquiry
We match the strip to the control system before it ships: white-channel colour point, cut and reel length, PCB colour, tail-wire length and pre-soldered 5-pin RGBW connectors. Please include:
- Total metres and the longest continuous run fed from one driver
- Voltage, and the RGBW controller or decoder specified
- Preferred white-channel colour point, and whether it must match fittings on site
- Extrusion model, and whether pre-cut pre-wired sections are required
