Project Overview
Linear LED lighting ran through every public-facing zone of a new mixed-use shopping mall in Shenzhen’s Futian CBD. Senfey supplied the full linear LED lighting package — built on our COB LED strip and silicone neon flex platforms — with IP67 paver-embedded inlays across the outdoor plaza, recessed neon flex along the main lobby’s sculptural shell ceiling, slim COB linework across the VIP elevator lobby walls and floor, and continuous geometric outline trim across a chain of upper-level VIP retail suites. The brief required a single coordinated production order with batch-matched CCT across both outdoor and indoor segments, and a fast 28-day fabrication cycle to lock the mall’s December opening date.

Project Challenges
1. Outdoor plaza inlay rated for foot traffic and rain
The outdoor plaza linear LED lighting is set directly into stone pavers in a pedestrian thoroughfare with daily traffic measured in tens of thousands of footfalls. The profile and diffuser had to survive IK10 impact, IP67 immersion under standing rainwater, and constant point-load cycling — a typical decorative strip channel would have cracked within weeks. A similar walk-over scope was delivered on our Expo City Dubai Al Wasl Plaza pathway lighting project.
2. Single-CCT consistency across outdoor and indoor zones
The plaza inlay and the VIP lobby trim are visible from each other through the mall’s full-height glass façade. Any CCT delta between the outdoor 3000K COB and the indoor 3000K COB would have been immediately visible, especially after dusk. Both runs had to be drawn from one binning pool to hold CCT inside ±50K.
3. Dot-free emission on raking-angle marble walls
The VIP lobby walls are polished marble, viewed at sharp raking angles where any single LED dot or pitch line in the linear LED lighting becomes visible. Standard SMD strips with 10–20 mm pitch were ruled out — only continuous-emission COB technology could deliver the clean line the designer specified.
4. Recessed shadow gap mounting in skim-finish plaster
The shell ceiling treatment and the VIP lobby trim required strips recessed into 12 mm shadow gaps cut directly into skim-finish plaster, with no visible profile lip. The aluminum channel had to disappear into the plaster line, with the LED edge sitting exactly flush with the finished surface — the same flush-plaster discipline applied on our other lighting project.
5. 28-day production lock to the mall opening calendar
The mall’s opening date was committed before lighting fabrication started. A 28-day production-to-shipment window covered 1,140 metres of strip, 1,040 metres of aluminum profile, and all controllers and drivers — with no margin for re-runs or quality re-cuts.
Product Highlights
1. Traffic-rated outdoor profile with tempered glass diffuser
SF-ALP-PAVER-TRAFFIC-20 uses a 4 mm tempered glass diffuser inside an extruded aluminum channel rated to IK10 impact and walk-over loading — the only linear LED lighting mounting system in our catalogue qualified for high-traffic pedestrian plaza inlay. Pressure-tested in pairs before shipment.
2. Coordinated single-bin COB across outdoor and indoor
All 960 metres of COB strip (420 m outdoor IP67 + 540 m indoor IP20) were committed from one LED binning pool in one production run, holding CCT inside ±50K across both segments. The plaza and the VIP lobby read as the same warm white at any viewing distance.
3. Dot-free CRI ≥ 95 COB for marble surfaces
SF-COB480 places 480 LED chips per metre under a continuous phosphor layer, producing zero visible dots at any raking angle. CRI ≥ 95 / R9 ≥ 70 renders marble veining, gold metal trim, and skin tone naturally — important for a VIP lobby that doubles as the mall’s brand-photography backdrop.
4. Recessed aluminum profile with flush plaster termination
SF-ALP-RECESS-12 is designed for plaster-set installation with a flange that disappears behind the skim coat, leaving only the diffuser visible. Cleanest shadow-gap result available without bespoke joinery.
5. Fast-track production and pre-cut shipment
The full 1,140-metre linear LED lighting order was committed, fabricated, pre-cut, and shipped in 26 days against the 28-day budget. All outdoor segments arrived pressure-tested with serial numbers traceable to test certificates.
Result
Fabrication and pre-cut closed in 26 days. Site install was staged across three weeks to follow the trades sequence:
- Week 1: Outdoor plaza paver inlay — channel setting, COB termination, drivers
- Week 2: Sculptural shell ceiling neon flex + VIP lobby slim COB linework
- Week 3: Retail suite outlines + DMX scene programming + hand-off to mall ops
The mall opened on its committed December date. Six months in, after two significant rain events and tens of thousands of daily footfalls across the plaza inlay, the linear LED lighting system has logged zero failed outdoor segments, zero indoor CCT drift, and zero service calls. The contractor has already specified the same SF-COB320 and SF-ALP-PAVER-TRAFFIC-20 combination for the mall’s Phase II outdoor expansion now in design — adding to our broader commercial and outdoor case portfolios.
